Editorial Review
Now well into season four, our favourite housewives carry on their surreptitious ways, while their now long-dead, voyeur-neighbour continues to provide commentary and intrigue from "beyond". The heat has died down a little, but with the show's writers consistently serving up succulent slices of suburban scandal each week, the Monday night TV punters aren't going anywhere.
In this week's episode, the arsonist behind the fire at Rick's (Jason Gedrick) restaurant is revealed, while Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) meets her match when Carlos (Ricardo Chavira) introduces her to the "other woman" - a faithful pooch named Roxie. Elsewhere, a very pregnant and emotional Susan (Teri Hatcher) is finally tipped over the edge with some distressing news, while Katherine (Dana Delany) and Bree (Marcia Cross) form an unlikely partnership when they strike up a lucrative business deal.
The role of the Mary Alice's character (Brenda Strong), as Wisteria Lane's resident dead voiceover chick, is starting to get a little "John Edwards" creepy. However, the show's ensemble cast is as strong as ever and the subplots easily as juicy. It is also worth mentioning that primetime audiences get a well-deserved break from Hatcher's protruding shoulder bones. Her cute pregnant belly and fuller figure is a vast improvement on the skeleton-chic look she had been sporting since her inauguration back into the Hollywood limelight. Who knows how long it will last though.
Desperate Housewives airs on the Seven Network on Monday, May 19, at 8:30pm.
