Editorial Review
Kenny's World is a travel show that spins off from the 2006 mockumentary film starring Shane Jacobson as Kenny - a Melbourne plumber who works for plumbing company Splashdown. In this TV adaptation, Kenny explores "the septic wonders of the world", travelling to 28 countries with the simple aim of entertaining viewers.
In this instalment Kenny sets up his crew to run the company in his absence, leaving them with the task of designing a "mobile pope pooper".
The first stop on his toilet tour is Japan - apparently the most poo-friendly country in the world. Viewers are escorted through Japan's bizarre culture, in which Kenny finds swinging toilets, dirty underwear and a multitude of peculiar good luck "charms", among other things. He also explores the case of a mystery citizen who leaves envelopes of money in toilets all over Tokyo.
The affable big bloke with a lisp endears himself to viewers with the assistance of animated clips, a plethora of "did you knows" and an entwined history lesson. Although we're more used to the television-to-film transition, Kenny's World is still likely to catch a few curious viewers - but that said, it's hard to see it earning a loyal fan base.
Kenny's World premieres on Network Ten on Wednesday, September 10, at 8pm.
