The brainchild of producers Nick West and DJ Schwa, a Shades of Grey live show is a blend of house, minimal, techno and progressive. While that's a fair cross section of styles, the fact Shades of Grey remix the whole thing live means they can tailor their performances as the situation requires. If the crowd aren't feeling the techno aspect then a few tweaks and some button presses will see the music take on a more progressive, house element.
Anyway, the pair has been working together for three years now, perfecting their sound and live shows. It's been time well spent - their early releases have won industry praise and drawn attention from various international DJs; among them Hernan Cattaneo from Renaissance.
With more releases, more live shows and more knob twiddling due in 2008, Shades of Grey are just getting started. Expect big things from the pair in years to come.
