Editorial Review

Parklife is back for 2008 and the line-up is just as awesome as you'd expect. Around since 2000, the festival has expanded massively in recent years and is considered one of the most consistent and cutting-edge events on the annual calendar. This year is no different, and the line-up encompasses the same mix of dance, indie and hip hop acts that Parklife has become renowned for.

Goldfrapp is one of the big names heading this way for the event. The UK duo helped popularise the electro/indie crossover with their first three albums, particularly Supernature in 2005. While 2008's Seventh Tree was a departure from the electro tinged glam rock of previous efforts, it won praise throughout the world and showed that Goldfrapp aren't afraid to experiment.

Diplo is another highlight. The Florida-based producer has become legendary for both his cut and paste mix CDs and his work with artists like M.I.A. and Spankrock. He's also responsible for helping to import Braile funk (think: Bonde do Role) from South America and exposing it to an international audience.

As for Peaches, the former US school teacher turned electro artist needs little introduction. If you're thinking of attending Parklife then you should already be aware of her subversive indie-meets-electro sounds.

Parklife is one of those festivals that seems to sell out every year, so if the first round line-up has taken your fancy you'd do well to get tickets sorted early.
