The ACMI Lounge

The ACMI Lounge is the perfect antidote to those Eastern European art house movies they screen upstairs.

Editorial Review

Do you have a deep and meaningful novel to read. Want the world to appreciate your quirkiness and 'artistic tendencies'? ACMI Lounge is the ideal spot for a bit of public reading. Swing past on a weekday evening, order a wine and find yourself a seat in the brightly lit lounge. You'll soon be exchanging meaningful glances with all the other arts students and movie buffs doing the same thing.

Alternatively, you can forget all that 'romantic misadventures' nonsense and duck in for a pre/post-movie drink. The ACMI lounge is bright and cheerful, an upmarket cinema bar for the art crowd. The movies at ACMI may be more highbrow than the local cinemaplex, but the lounge is laidback and relaxed. That's what happens when you go with a red and yellow, semi-industrial design concept. It makes it pretty much impossible to be pretentious or, for that matter, comfortable.

Sure, the drink selection tends to stick with the basics, beers, wines and spirits, but as far as cinema bars go, it's actually pretty good. And hey, you'll be needing those drinks after seeing an Eastern European, art house movie.
