Circus Oz 2008 30th Birthday Bash
Editorial ReviewEditorial Review
18 June-13 July '08The year was 1978 when the Soapbox Circus and the New Circus met beneath a big top somewhere in Melbourne and joined forces to produce Circus Oz. Now after 30 years on the road, it's time to party with a hometown 30th Birthday Bash extravaganza.
The signature cheeky, raucous and uniquely Australian style of Circus Oz returns to the Big Top at Birrarung Marr with an animal-free, excitement-packed show featuring a line-up of old favourites and new gags. The Circus Oz family also introduce their freshest faces as a new team of acrobats and aerialists inspire awe in the spectacular fashion for which they have become internationally renowned.
From the self-sewed and welded tent from which they started, Circus Oz have launched onto the world stage, performing in 26 countries including shows at the Tivoli Gardens, a refugee camp and on 42nd Street, New York.
The birthday cake has been made all the more sweet with news that an 82 percent funding increase from the Australia Council and Arts Victoria will allow Circus Oz to develop their intensive training program, The Lab.
Bookings at Ticketmaster.
