Martin and Melinda purchased the home with a view to carrying out the required works and approached Spacemaker after seeing our job sign next door.
The house was architect designed and built in the early 1970s. It was basically in sound condition, but was well in need of a major overhaul in style and functionality, due to a severe lack of maintenance. The house is located in a prestigious area, and the treed block of land is at the end of a quiet court, ideally situated for a young family.
The owners of number 6 gave Spacemaker a glowing referral, and Spacemaker's designer Jim Arzanas commenced work on a design that transformed the dated 1970s home into a modern, functional masterpiece incorporating light and spacious living areas.
The project was commenced in late July 1999 and the contract works were completed by the end of that year.
As part of extra works, we returned in January 2000 to add a timber deck to the Southwest elevation. Works were then totally completed by late February 2000.
After extensive demolition, a family room was added downstairs, while the upstairs addition comprised a new master bedroom and en suite. Rearrangement of the existing structure has created a functional, well-zoned home of four levels.
