The Quamby Cafe was built by Mrs. Sarah Dorey in 1914. Mrs. Dorey worked tirelessly in her cafe with her two daughters for 44 years extending the building three times in that period.
Originally the Quamby served afternoon teas, solid fruit and vegetables, as well as soft drinks, sweets and cigars. However its claim to culinary fame lay in its Strawberries and Cream which were then served at 6d a dish.
1958 - The beginning of what has become one of the icons of the hills.
