'No menu', you cry, 'but how will I know what to eat?' Do like the locals do and consult the clued-up waiters who, amid the demands of clamouring patrons in this bustling taverna, never miss a beat. Most of the action is out the back and, on a warm night with some BYO ouzo in your belly, you could almost be in Athens.
Confide your culinary preferences and wait to see what appears: perhaps a heart-warming plate of fried vegetables; hot, chewy bread and dips (the taramasalata is a sensual delight, charcoal grilled calamari or a large snapper fillet fried in garlic and lemon. When a frying pan with a large slice of saganaki) was dropped on our table, the waiter urged us to gobble it up quickly before the deliciously chewy texture turned rubbery - we happily obliged. The menu's mysterious but it's unquestionably good.
The Lonely Planet Out to Eat Guide
Jim's Greek Restaurant has been trading successfully for 28 years. Over this time they've built a reputation for quality food and friendly service - there's no menu you so you must rely on the waiters for their suggestions - a daunting thing you might say but there's no question as to the great taste and flavours of the dishes.
Jim's Greek Restaurant has won various food awards over the years and is recommended by The Age "Good Food Guide" and the Lonely Planet "Out to Eat" Guide.
